Christmas was fast then within a blink we were into 2023, the New Year was a party of fireworks, drinking, and cheering the old year away.
The last year went so quickly, it only seemed yesterday, we went camping in a heat wave in August, and then we were watching the rain hitting the windows on Christmas day, from watching boats in Dartmouth and eating icecream to having the heating on and drinking mulled wine whilst cooking tonnes of food, yes the year went quick.
Over the year we have discovered new breweries, the likes of www.wookeyale.co.uk , www.lymeregisbrewery.com, and stives-brewery.co.uk, and many more, we also discovered how great Aldi wines are and how good they are for your pocket. We have reconnected with local producers by shopping more at farm shops like greendale.com/ and due to the extreme cost of power we have finally got the kids to turn off lights and not leave game stations on charge all day! by getting a smart meter and showing them the cost of a shower or a simple cup of Tea.
We look forward to this new year, we will start by celebrating Squash turning 14 and how he has grown tall to his mother’s discomfort, we will watch ASBO join his brothers in secondary school in September and we will finish back where we started, Christmas and new year, somehow in this 12 months we will go on a holiday, have 5 more birthdays to sort (big 80 for Grandma) a kings coronation, try and find a new job, and need to pay the credit card off.
This year we aim to find more wonderful beers and great reasonably-priced wine, I shall try to finish the bathrooms off and continue to grow our garden, I shall try to fix the heating in the car, redecorate the kid’s bedrooms, build a go-kart for ASBO, go mountain biking with squash and take Tiddley horse riding, I plan not to get upset when West Ham lose and hope the Harlequins can win the Gallagher Premiership, I look forward to the kids playing Hockey for there club and I will enjoy sitting in the cold watching them freezing my ass off, but most of all I want to be a better person this year.
