Adjusting to Home Life
Transitioning from the track to home life required patience and care. Greyhounds are typically accustomed to kennels, so everyday household items like stairs, windows, and even carpet were new experiences for her. Slowly but surely, she learned to navigate her new environment, and I got to witness her personality blossom.
The Sofa Sneak
One of her favorite pastimes is sneaking onto the sofa at any opportunity. No matter how many comfy beds or blankets I provide, she seems to have a sixth sense for when the coast is clear. She’ll clamber up, stretch out luxuriously, and give me her most innocent look when caught, as if to say, “Who, me?”
The Joy of Simple Pleasures
What my greyhound lacks in enthusiasm for physical activity, she makes up for with her love for the simple things. Mealtime is a highlight of her day, and she approaches her bowl with the same intensity she once had for racing. Short, leisurely walks are another favorite, where she can sniff around and soak in the world at her own pace.
