A visit to Jeremy Clarkson’s pub, The Farmer’s Dog, is exactly what you’d expect – big, bold, and full of character. From a huge “car park” in two fields, to fast food served from the Grand Tour Tent, it’s a day out that combines countryside charm with Clarkson flair.

Parking: Two Fields, and Yes… Fields

The first thing you’ll notice is the massive car park. Space is not a problem – there’s plenty of room for everyone – but don’t expect tarmac and painted lines. It’s two big fields, and yes, they are very much fields. On dry days that means dust clouds as cars roll in and yes our car was covered in dust plus I had to drive very slowly due to my stupidly low front spoiler, and I’m guessing on wet days you can imagine things getting a little muddy. Still, it does the job, and it fits the rural setting.

The Grand Tour Tent: Food, Beer & Merchandise

The Grand Tour Tent is the hub of the outdoor action. Inside you’ll find:

Merchandise shop – Clarkson-themed goodies, caps, mugs, and farm-inspired souvenirs. Butchers & beer sales – local cuts of meat and, of course, Hawkstone beer to drink or take home. Food stall – serving up pub-style classics like burgers and lamb shawarma.

There are picnic tables everywhere, so once you’ve got your food or pint in hand, there’s space to sit and enjoy it.

Food: Quick and Tasty

We queued for around 20 minutes, which at first seemed long, but the food arrived very quickly once ordered. The burger was outstanding – juicy, fresh, and cooked just right. It’s the kind of food you want at a pub like this: simple, filling, and done well.

Drinks: The Outdoor Bar

The outdoor beer bar was busy but efficient. Hawkstone beer and cider were flowing, staff kept the queue moving, and prices were reasonable for a high-profile destination.

The Pub: Fully Booked Inside

The actual pub building was fully booked, and with the queue stretching out the door, we didn’t go inside. That said, with everything happening outdoors – food, drink, shop, and seating – you don’t feel like you’re missing out too much if you can’t get a table indoors.

Farm Shop & Butcher

The farm shop is a highlight, stocked with local produce, Clarkson’s branded items, and a proper butcher’s counter. Just like everywhere else here, you’ll find queues, but they move steadily and the selection makes it worth the wait.

Backing British Farmers & Produce

What makes The Farmer’s Dog different from your average countryside pub is its commitment to local and British-made produce. Everything here – from the meat to the beer – is sourced from UK farms or suppliers.

Clarkson has even gone as far as recently introducing a 100% British tomato sauce, proving that you can keep things local without compromising on quality. It’s not just about food and drink – it’s about sending a clear message:
