Having 4 kids with 4 different music tastes, adding mummy & Daddy with our differing music (I don’t see whats wrong with Swedish House Maffia playing on a Sunday morning), although we do share some tastes (Yes, the Levellers ), poor Alexa gets very confused.

one minute I’m listening to Pearl Jam and then ASOB will walk in and Shout “Alexa play Blue” at this point 1. you look in disbelief at the rubbish he is asking for, but then 2. how rude!3. Blue what? The band, song, his mood (he really is like the angry kid cartoon)

To put an end to the arguing we got a Google nest mini, smaller than the Alexa but is it as good?

If Alexa has achieved one thing, we now know what rubbish our children are being subjected to at school due to the songs that they request (ok that’s my view, and I do like a bit of Katie Perry), but we also know that their musical tastes are different, which is where Alexa and mini are great.

Well as Amazon explains the 3rd generation Echo – Voice control your music: ask Alexa for a song, artist or genre from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer, TuneIn and more. With multi-room music, play music on compatible Echo devices in different rooms.

Yes you have to pay a small price for all music but if it means I’m not spending money on CD’s which you have to store then it’s worth it, adding that you get information, recipes, you can call through it (Alexa to Alexa), news weather radio and it works with smart devices, etc etc …

We yet haven’t discovered the full package of Alexa and as we grow it does too.

Google nest mini, basically the same as Alexa but “google”, its priced about the same as an echo dot but it’s slightly cheaper, its smaller but in a way cuter than the dot & Echo, we got given one to try and it’s really good, the speaker may not be as good as the large Echo, but I get that in the cost, like Alexa if you want all music you have to pay, but just ask for a band and you get a youtube mix. it’s just you have to remember who you are talking to “hey Google” or “Alexa” but l do like both!.

both have different versions and both are great and with there Apps, so simple to install and use the extra functions, its a breeze (Santa location at Christmas was brilliant fun and fooled the kids) but beware if you ask for Hart radio in a busy room as you may get some funny sounds from them both.

Again I like both so the choice is yours!
