So before all this Coronavirus started, we and the family had a trip to the wonderful Cotswolds, staying at Luckley (https://www.luckleyholidays.co.uk/ ) farm, which caters for large families and groups, just up the road from the famous Cheltenham races but secluded enough to be free form the stresses of the day.

Luckley Farm is well set up, there is the main house where you can stay and imagine that you are the lord of the manor, with its National Trust look and feel and decore to match, there is also a large barn conversation with stunning views over the fields, a large hut complex which has a number of self-contained flats with clever cooking facilities, and hidden away snug.

For the kids (or us adults after a few beers) a games room with pool, air hockey, fuzzball, and table tennis, and in the summer months a swimming pool and Tennis to name a few more of the activities.

As it is a working farm you do find yourself sometimes being chased by a goose (which the family group found hilarious when I got cornered carrying the rubbish and recycling and then videoed me on the way back!) and there are ducks and chickens wandering around and the barns are very “farm’ ie” with equipment and machinery parked up.

The House suited us as we were on a Family Birthday treat weekend, so 30 of us from 3 different areas were able to come togeather and have the space to have fun and enjoy each other’s company without treading on each other’s toes.

But once again Siri decided to have a funny turn!, firstly trying to get to the farm in the dark the Satnav failed, (after being on main roads you have to hit the country lanes and you then remember how dark the countryside is!) I love it when Siri tells you to turn left now!, but there is no road or the “slide right?” when its a straight road, then when we were only a mile away (we found out in the morning) Siri drove us around a hamlet with an old telephone box (which is now a book exchange), we went around it twice before he correcting himself, it was a fun journey getting there.

In the morning we were told that there was a farm shop a 3-minute drive away, well we could not refuse a look.

Checking the map we decided to walk, the weather was good and off we went, me Gin and Tiddley, about a mile up the road we had a text message “Cheers, I’m still waiting for you”, we had forgotten Grandma! she had found out we had gone, slap on the hand time…

Feeling very guilty G went back to the house to get Grandma me and Tiddle carryed on.

Now when looking at the Satnav map it showed we needed to walk up the road to a T junction then turn Right, simple?

Tiddley and I walked, and walked, and walked, the roadside verge got smaller and smaller then stopped by a layby, “where the hell is this shop!” I said to Tiddley, So I rang for a pickup.

Once G had picked us up, we were stuck on the road with no turning chances so we went off-piste and worked out another route (which took us passed a brewery! us aiming to visit after the farm shop).

we got there! the farm shop was small but very cute and a lovely looking restaurant, the team are very friendly (And we believe the Owner/Manager) made sure every one of our needs were met, the wonderful food on show in the deli was very tempting but the sausages are to die for, local and of course, we had to buy!.

The shop is split around the seating area but there is plenty of space and trying to get G away from the display of hand made soaps was a challenge, we spent some time talking to the Gent (as usual I forgot to ask his name) but what a lovely place, and a large car park.

After Tiddlie had swindled a locally made strawberry ice cream out of us we left, but the shock was, that if we had turned left, we would have seen it!!.

With a great selection of local produce and beers, we stocked up for the house and arrived back to the group all laughing at our “leaving Grandma” behind and the second calamity.

A much as the farm shop was cute and I will be going back again when I’m in the area if only for the sausages and the veggie samosas, the beer was £3.99 a bottle! ok well, we were on holiday and farm shop prices, then we were told that two of our party had gone down to the Brewery and found an honesty box charging £2.50 for the same beer! So Gutted!
