In the midst of the current chaos, it’s hard not to feel bombarded by a whirlwind of distractions and deflections. From politics and banking to weather updates and global conflicts, the sheer breadth of issues seems insurmountable. As I observe the unfolding narratives, it becomes apparent that our attention is constantly being pulled in different directions.

A prime example is our own prime minister entangled in controversies linked to family businesses securing contracts, indirectly impacting the lives of the British people. The stark contrast between his position and the struggles of the general public is emblematic of a disconnect fuelled by immense wealth.

Over the past 13 years, the British Government’s spending has raised eyebrows, benefiting select individuals and businesses through what seems like backdoor dealings. The recent economic boom during the COVID period raises questions about companies profiting without delivering tangible goods. Meanwhile, wars unfold with a narrative largely shaped by one side, suppressing dissenting voices.

Reflecting on my upbringing, I recall being told to trust the government and teachers as guides to a successful life. However, as I grow older, the constant barrage of 24-hour news from mainstream media and social platforms blurs the lines between truth and manipulation. The influence of algorithms on what we see further complicates our quest for genuine information.

Questions loom large, one could be – does Blackrock now hold vast amounts of Bitcoin despite earlier denials and skepticism? Does it wield influence over Ukraine’s finances? Or another- Is the British government as corrupt as the media portrays? Could the mayor of London be failing in his duty, contributing to the perceived decline in street safety? and how in the mid of a media named barrage “cost of living crisis” can Supermarkets make billions of profit on like for like sales whilst we the public scrip and save to feed our family’s ?

These are not questions plucked from the sky’s, these are questions I’ve seen daily, questions that do make you stop and think and yes these are real questions from real people on social media platforms although are they also twisting our judgment?

In this personal rant, I ponder the irony of footballers earning millions while many struggle to afford basic necessities due to inflated prices, influenced by oil and fuel companies. The disparity is heightened by what feels like hysterical interest rates, where the Bank of England seemingly holds us hostage. Simple solutions, such as reducing fuel prices to alleviate distribution costs, seem elusive in the face of larger economic intricacies.

Perhaps it’s just been a particularly trying day, and fatigue colors my perspective. Yet, as I consume news, I can’t help but wonder about the intentional direction of the narrative. What lies to the left when the spotlight is on the right? The search for truth in this cacophony remains a formidable challenge.
